Character History[]

Season 3[]

In Dark Horse (2), he is at Mary-Beth's house when Danielle comes in after a tough day of getting drunk, getting into a fight, and losing her best friend. He finds the situation uncomfortable and awkward while his daughter makes a joke out of it, which he is clearly unamused with.

In Forget Forever (1), he joins Mary-Beth and Danielle for Thanksgiving, much to Danielle's chagrin and brings Peyton with him. He greets them when he arrives and wishes them happy thanksgiving. At the table during dinner, he and Mary-Beth announce that he and Peyton are moving to Clearwater to be closer to each other and Peyton will attend Clearwater High. Danielle storms out and he is confused.

In Internet Killed the Video Star, he and Mary-Beth are having a fight in the morning before work which Danielle witnesses. He then storms out of her house. It was revealed that their fight was over Mary-Beth's ex-husband moving into the same apartment complex as Alex and him thinking she was cheating on him with her ex-husband.

Season 4[]

In Bad Blood, he joins Mary-Beth and Danielle in the bathroom and starts kissing Mary-Beth. She complains that she just put on her lipstick, but he tells her she looks gorgeous without it. He is later driving Danielle and Peyton to school, which is awkward since he hasn't bonded with Danielle very much. He tries making small talk by asking if she has chemistry first period, but she tells him that she doesn't even take chemistry, visibly annoyed with him. Mary-Beth later sets up for Alex to take Danielle to the carnival later that day in order for them to get closer.

They are at the carnival later and Alex asks her if she liked rides, and Danielle tells her that she doesn't since they mess up her hair. Alex is annoyed by this and says that all women are the same when it comes to their looks, which Danielle does not appreciate hearing. He asks if her friends are around and thanks her for coming with him, even if it was just to make her mother happy. Danielle asks him if he's going to tie the knot with her mom soon, and he says he isn't sure. Danielle calls it out that she thinks he's going to ask soon and goes on a tangent about how he's messy and leaves his crap all over the house. Alex gets annoyed by this and tells her not to say crap, which gets Danielle even more annoyed. She tells him that he isn't her parent and he can't tell her what to do, but he doubles down and says that she's with him, so she has to listen to what he says. Danielle tells her he's just her mother's boyfriend and she doesn't take orders from him, trying to leave the situation. He yanks her back violently by her arm and slaps her, which shocks Danielle and causes her to run away.

He later catches Danielle telling her mom about what happened and plays dumb, telling Mary-Beth he has no idea what she's talking about. Mary-Beth is hesitant to believe Danielle, which gets her riled up even more and Alex is happy when she leaves the house to stay with her dad, unsure of who he even is when he shows up at the house. Suddenly, Danielle's father punches Alex in the face for hurting his daughter and Alex keeps saying he didn't do it. He then listens in to Danielle and Mary-Beth's conversation and is happy when Danielle finally leaves.

In Dream Catcher, Alex is annoyed that Mary-Beth is having Danielle and her father over for dinner, which he says is ridiculous when Mary-Beth explains Danielle won't come over without her dad. After she leaves, Alex kicks over the trash can in anger and Peyton tells him to chill out, but he is very upset she's having her ex-husband over. Peyton reminds him if he never hit Danielle, none of this would be happening, which sets Alex off even more who tells Peyton to shut up. He then gets angry when he learns Peyton is still hanging out with Danielle and tells her not to screw this up for them and that they don't have the privilege of being good.

He later calls Peyton from school and tells her to get home right away. She gets back and sees Alex has packed all of their things up and he explains that the police know where they are now. He tells her that they're after him and they have to leave immediately, mentioning that he stole some of Mary-Beth's jewelry they can pawn for cash and maybe go to LA. Peyton doesn't want to leave, but Alex says they don't have a choice. Peyton says she can stay on her own and Alex tells her that they'll kick her out once they learn who she really is and she'll have nothing without him since he's kept her alive all these years. Peyton tells him that she's smarter than he gives her credit for, but he is adamant that she's just a stupid kid who thinks she knows everything, but wouldn't last a day in the real world. Peyton doesn't want to take Mary-Beth's things, saying she's a good person, but Alex doubles down that they don't have a choice. He slaps her when she isn't down with the plan still and tells her to get herself together since this town is making her soft. He gives up finally and tells her to stay behind and go to jail since Mary-Beth and Danielle don't give a shit about her

Peyton later turns Alex in, and he is arrested outside of Mary-Beth's house, and is proved wrong with Mary-Beth and Danielle take Peyton in.
